About Caruthers & Caruthers

William and David Caruthers have been following in the footsteps of both their father and grandfather in providing quality legal services to Westmoreland County and the surrounding areas. As the third generation of lawyers, they are continuing the practice their grandfather established in 1914. Both take pride in their family legal practice and are committed to providing you with superior representation in all of your legal matters. Biographies - William F. Caruthers, II

William Caruthers has been in the private practice of law for over twenty years. Born and raised in the Norwin, PA area, Bill always knew that he wanted to practice law. He graduated from the University of Michigan and the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law. Bill’s experience spans a wide variety of areas such as personal injury, real estate, commercial,  business and criminal law. In addition to his private practice, he is also the Solicitor for the Westmoreland County Register of Wills and Secretary and Director for Penn State Tool & Die Corporation. Bill is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, where he previously served as a member of its Board of Governors.  Not only does Bill serve the legal community, he continues to hold leadership roles and is active in community organizations. He was previously President and a current member of the Norwin Rotary Club and current President of the Union Cemetery Association of North Huntingdon Township and the Board of Trustees of the Norwin Public Library Association. He is also on the Board of Directors of Norwin Area Meals on Wheels and the Norwin Historical Society. Bill currently resides in the Norwin area with his wife, daughter, son and their welsh terrier. He enjoys golf, sailing and bowling.

Biographies - J. David Caruthers

Successful representation of your interests in court requires a lawyer to have the right mix of courtroom experience, legal judgment and interpersonal skills. David Caruthers's 18 years of experience as a trial attorney provides him with the skills necessary to handle your legal matters. Aside from his private practice, David has been with the Westmoreland County Public Defender’s Office for 13 years and is currently the Chief Trial Counsel. David is a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College and fulfilled his life long dream of becoming a lawyer when he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law in 1983. His private practice has included family law, personal injury, and wills & estates. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and is the Chairman of the Criminal Law Committee for the Westmoreland County Bar Association. David currently resides in the Norwin area with his wife, two daughters and standard schnauzer.
